To stay or not to stay, that is the question...
McDonald's stop #3 for today brings us to the pretty much inevitable question of where to go and when to go there... Let me go back a few steps and catch you up on what’s been happening...
We flew into Sydney about a week ago and made our first stop in Wollongong. We acquired some camping equipment and sound gear and spent a day or so of finding our bearings, plus hooking up with old friends and friends that we’d never met before (a whole ‘nother story in itself). Anyways, on the 28th (of September) we headed off to Black Stump festival. There we camped, got covered in dust (which I think is still ingrained in my skin), and got to connect with a lot of people and ministries from this side of the country. Some of those people actually became characters in the next chapter of our story.
Still not knowing where we were going to go next, or where we were going to stay when we got there, we got to connect with some people who own a beautiful property up in the Blue Mountains. They offered us a place to stay up there if we were ever passing through - So, they were an answer to our prayers!
We stayed at Kihilla for 3 days, the day we arrived, a sabbath, and then a work day (sorting out all of the segments of our presentation.. exporting mixing audio etc.), and then we needed to start our journey up to Brisbane in order to drop off our temporary rental cars and pick up our home (a van) for the next 2 months.
That brings us to the time when I began this (although a few more days have passed since then, so I can catch you up that there were actually 5 McDonald’s stops in two days... But anyways, that’s besides the point).
We drove all day (almost 9 hours) through the mountains and then - to be honest it was such a long day I can’t really remember what the landscape was like, I just remember it was beautiful. Then we came to a big little town (where I started to write this blog), and were tossing around the decision whether to keep driving through the night up to Brisbane, or to try to find a hotel vacancy and catch a bit of sleep before making the trek. We finally decided for the sleep option, and headed out early the next morning for our destination.
Now we’re here In Brisbane for the next 2 ish weeks. Last night was our first night here, and we were roused at about 5 this morning by a choir of kookaburras and parrots... or maybe a choir of parrots and an audience of amused kookaburras, both singing and laughing us good morning! - How cool is Australia! We’re anticipating where God will lead us, and who we’ll get to meet on this part of the journey. Stay tuned!
